The Sheffield Village Police Department is asking for support after an officer died due to a medical emergency overnight.

The Lorain County Sheriff's Office confirmed the officer who died was Lt. Aaron Bober.

Sheffield Village Police Chief William Visalden said he asked Lorain Police for assistance so his officers could "process this difficult event."

On Friday, Lorain County Dispatch said Lorain police were patrolling Sheffield Village because of "a serious health incident" involving a member of the Sheffield police force.
