Two dead in fiery crash in Lorain

Two people were killed in a fiery late-night car crash Monday in Lorain. 

A green 2001 Volkswagen Jetta was traveling at 11:49 p.m. westbound on E. 36th Street approaching the intersection of Fulton Road at a high rate of speed, according to a Lorain police news release.

The vehicle crossed the intersection and came to a final stop after wrapping around a utility pole before catching fire. 

The driver and the passenger of the vehicle died at the scene of the crash. Their names were not immediately given. 

Lorain police continue to investigate the crash.
