Carl Kannenberg, a former police officer for the Montville Township Police Department, has been indicted for rape, gross sexual imposition, and kidnapping of a young girl on two separate occasions, according to court documents.
According to a Cleveland police report, while at University Hospitals on Feb. 2, Kannenberg sexually abused a 7-year-old girl.
The indictment stated another incident of sexual abuse between Kannenberg and the 7-year-old girl occurred at his home in Medina between Sept. 1, 2015 and Jan. 31, 2016.
According to the indictment, Kannenberg was charged with two counts each of rape, gross sexual imposition and kidnapping in relation to the two incidents.
Kannenberg, 34, was arrested by Cleveland police on July 12. He was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at 8:30 a.m in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court, but the defense filed a motion for continuance.
