MONTVILLE, Ohio — A three-hour standoff in Montville ended with the suspect taking his own life.

Police received a call around 12:45 a.m. from a McDonald's employee that a naked juvenile female was assaulted in the 4700 block of Stockbridge Drive.

The employee told dispatch they were driving the juvenile to the Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital, according to police.

Police said as they responded to the Stockbridge home, a security guard from the hospital called them saying the juvenile said that a man assaulted her in the home and shot an adult woman, and that there were other children in the home.

When officers arrived at the home, a man inside called saying he shot a woman in the head.

Officers went to the garage, where the man was standing near a woman who was suffering from a gunshot wound, police said.

The man refused to surrender and ran into the home, according to police.

The woman was taken from the garage and flown by medical helicopter to a local hospital.

After a three-hour standoff, SWAT entered the home, where they found the man dead, according to police.

The children inside of the home were rescued and are safe.

Police said the incident is over and wants residents to know that they are safe.
