A former Kent Police officer was killed in combat while fighting in Ukraine in August, the department shared.
Max Arnett was an officer for Kent for a little over a year.
After learning about the situation in Ukraine, he decided to leave the force in March and join the fight to defend Ukraine.
"To say we are heartbroken and in disbelief of his passing is an understatement. We would like to take this time to recognize the sacrifice Max made for what he believed in," the department said.
