A pregnant woman died the day after Christmas after she and her friend were hit by a car while walking.

At 8:42 p.m. on Saturday, Ravenna police responded to the intersection of West Main Street and Oakwood Street for pedestrians struck by a car.

Officers said they located two victims, 34-year-old Keanyanna Marsh, and 35-year-old Herbert Stacey, both of Ravenna.

Stacey had only minor injuries.

Marsh suffered serious injuries and was transported to Portage Medical Center. She was then taken by helicopter to an Akron hospital. At 11:30 p.m., police were told Marsh died from her injuries. She was pregnant, but her term was unknown.

Police said the car that hit Marsh and Stacey was driven by Austin Martin, 20, of Ravenna.

Witnesses reported weather, visibility, and road conditions were poor due to rain.

The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy this week.

No charges have been filed. The Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Portage County Prosecutor's Office are assisting with the investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Ravenna police at 330-296-6486.
