An 81-year-old Lexington man died after he drifted off the right side of the road and struck a tree while driving west on State Route 97 Friday at around 1:22 p.m., according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Officials said Edwin L. Woogerd was transported to Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital and was later flown to Grant Hospital in Columbus.
Woogerd died while being treated at Grant Hospital.
His 2014 Nissan Versa went off the road for no apparent reason, authorities said. The Mansfield OSHP Post is investigating the crash.
