Correction: In a previous version of this story we reported that Shannon Forehope was the alleged perpetrator. He was the party who reported the incident, not the alleged perpetrator. This story has been updated to reflect this.

A Canton father told police that a neighbor took his three children to a park and forced them to smoke marijuana in order to get a ride home.

The father of the children, Shannon Forehope, told police that his neighbor said that he was going to take the children to church for the afternoon so the parents could get some chores done. The neighbor even provided the name of an actual church.

The father told police the neighbor took the children to Rearick Park in Canton, near the area of 35th Street and Ellis Avenue NE.

When the children were dropped back off with their parents, according to the father, the kids said the neighbor offered them marijuana and said he would not give them a ride home unless they tried it.

The three children, ages 7, 12 and 13, smoked the marijuana, according to what the father told police. The neighbor also allegedly asked the 13-year-old girl out on a date.
