A Houston nonprofit will donate a new K-9 to the Canton Police Department after K-9 Jethro was shot and killed during an attempted robbery in early January.
K9s4COPs will provide the dog to Officer Ryan Davis, Jethro's partner. Davis is in Houston this weekend, selecting a new dog, and the pair will return to Ohio Tuesday morning, the organization said.
K94COPs has granted more than 100 K-9s to departments in 28 states and 11 schools. Each trained dog costs between $10,000 and $15,000.
