Four-year-old Aribella Wetrich is being called a hero in Perry Township in Stark County for springing to action and saving her grandmother Mary Wetrich’s life.
"I got up to go to the other room, and I felt a horrendous pain in the back of my head," Mary said.
The sudden, sheering pain sent Mary to the ground, but her granddaughter Aribella was close behind.
"Her face was all red...so I called 911," Aribella said. "I had to call somebody. So I picked her phone up and called somebody, by myself. Mimi teached me how to call 911."
The preschooler was on the phone with dispatch for nearly seven minutes.
"She was able to relay our phone number, where we live. Phenomenal. Just goes to show they really listen," Mary said. "She's my angel."
Perry Township first responders awarded Aribella with a commendation.
"It's never too early to teach your children how to use an emergency call or a 911 call because you never know what's going to happen to you," said Mary.
