BARBERTON, Ohio — A two-year-old child has died following a hosue fire in Barberton, according to William Judge, mayor of Barberton.

Around 12:36 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 30, firefighters responded to a structure fire at a residence on East Ford Avenue.

First responders arrived about four minutes after dispatch received the first call and found three victims in the front yard.

Fire crews extinguished the second-floor fire while units from Barberton, Coventry and Akron transported two children and one adult female to Akron Children’s Hospital.

A two-year-old child died due to injuries sustained in the fire. A 3-year-old child and their mother remain hospitalized, Judge said.

Donations for the family are currently being accepted and can be dropped off at the Barberton Salvation Army located at 560 W Wooster Rd.

Judge said the city of Barberton is working with the family to help them with their needs.
