An officer in Copley is recovering from minor injuries after his cruiser was hit on State Route 21 near the Copley Road exit during a traffic stop.
Police said the officer was making a traffic stop when a driver hit his car.
According to police, they believe the driver may have been under the influence.
The officer was talking to the person he pulled over when his cruiser was struck.
"This is the kinda situation that our police officers go through on a daily basis. It's very dangerous to stop cars anywhere. It's particularly dangerous to stop a car on a highway where motorists are traveling at a high rate of speed." Copley Police Chief Michael Mier said.
The driver, who struck the cruiser, was also transported to the hospital in unknown condition.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash and whether any charges will be filed.
