Residents of Stow slam mayor after assault claim

Posted

Stow Mayor Sara Kline has accused Ward 4 City Councilman Robert Adaska of assaulting her, but once her citizens saw the tape, some weren't convinced.

"It is absurd that the mayor is wasting the courts time, they're wasting the money to pursue this,” said one citizen. "I've watched the tape — it’s a nothing-burger. They should shake hands and say, 'OK, let’s forget about it.'"

Many residents flooded Thursday night’s city council meeting to share similar opinions.

Their March 22 incident is being investigated by outside governmental agencies.

“There was no physical altercation,” said Adaska.

Mayor Kline told police there was. She said that Adaska pushed her. Adaska said the scandal stems from an argument over a playground.

"That playground was very special to a lot of people. And she had it torn down in the middle of the day,” Adaska said. "The reason this playground was taken down, was because it didn't fit into the plan of this administration."

Adaska said the playground was in his ward, and the mayor never notified him.

"She started yelling at me for making comments in the meeting. That's my job,” said Adaska. "It would be nice to get an apology. More for my wife, who had to put up with this."

Their court date is set for April 26.
