SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Springfield Township police rescued a dog after she fell through the ice on a pond Sunday afternoon and returned the dog to her family.

Officer Simms waded through a pond on Killian Road to rescue the black and white dog the department is calling “Lucky,” with the help of a few good Samaritans.

Lucky had no tags and no collar, so after rescuing her Officer Simms and the Springfield Township Police Department set out to find her home.

After posting the rescue video to Facebook and putting out a call for Lucky’s owners, police were able to reunite the dog, whose real name is Stella, with her family.
