City of Newcomerstown on lockdown as police search for person

NEWCOMERSTOWN, Ohio — The village of Newcomerstown, which is located in Tuscarawas County, is on lockdown, according to the Newcomerstown mayor's office.

The mayor's office said police are looking for an individual in the town.

West Elementary School on Beaver Street was put on lockdown because the individual was spotted six blocks away on Goodrich Street.

The mayor's office says they are taking precautionary measures at this time. While the office couldn't specify which banks were closed, a spokesperson for the mayor's office said the banks can choose to close their doors if they choose.
