RAVENNA, Ohio — Christmas is long over, but the gifts keep coming for some kids at Akron Children’s Hospital.

Deputies, corrections officers, dispatchers, and other members of the Portage County Sheriff's Office raised about $1,700 during their "No Shave November" fundraiser, where employees donated money to skip shaving each day.

Organizers told News 5 the need for these kinds of gifts never ends.

"For us, we can give it to them in March and April, and they don’t have a lot of toys during that cause a lot of people don’t think about that during that time," Detective Robert James said.

It's the fifth year of the fundraiser. The brand new toys are meant for patients from toddlers to teenagers.

"We're going to embrace it for sure and continue on with this fundraiser," Sheriff Bruce Zuchowski said.
