Cleveland Clinic Akron General is closed to general visitation, and its emergency department is on diversion to ambulances Saturday due to a water main break.
Additionally, all outpatient cardiac and radiology appointments have been canceled Saturday at the downtown campus located at 1 Akron General Avenue, Akron General said.
The hospital's emergency department and health and wellness centers will remain open. All hospitalized patients will continue to receive care, Akron General said.
The City of Akron said the break occurred just before 4 a.m. on a 12-inch water line right outside of the emergency room.
The city's water team is assisting with pumping the water out of the facilities, and no boil advisory has been issued, the city said.
The break is expected to be fixed within four to six hours, and water will be restored, the city said.
