CLEVELAND — An organization aimed at providing fun activities and adventures for children living with life-threatening illnesses got creative during the coronavirus pandemic and brought a smile to the faces of several Northeast Ohio families with a little help from a beloved Cleveland mascot.

A Kid Again had plans to take the families it serves in Northern Ohio to the Indians game originally scheduled for Sunday against the Twins before the season was halted due to COVID-19 concerns.

Since the game was no longer possible, the organization decided to come up with a fun alternative for the day—hosting a virtual dance party for all of the families with Indians mascot Slider.

The children and their families danced along with Slider from the safety of their own homes while still giving the children a very special memory.

A Kid Again routinely takes children with life-threatening illnesses and their families on fun excursions, like an Indians game or a trip to an amusement park or zoo, but all planned adventures have had to be canceled for the foreseeable future. Fortunately, the organization stays committed to bringing children happiness, even when the plans aren’t what they had expected.
