KINSMAN, Ohio — A teen survived a serious crash after he fell asleep at the wheel early Friday morning, according to the Burghill Vernon Fire Department.
Crews from the Burghill Vernon and Johnston Fire Departments responded to a rollover crash on state Route 88 at 2:28 a.m.
After arriving on the scene, the 16-year-old driver involved in the crash told authorities that he fell asleep at the wheel.
The car went airborne and struck a tree in mid-air before coming to a rest on its roof in the middle of the road, according to authorities.
The teen was wearing a seatbelt and walked away from the crash with minor injuries, authorities said.
SR 88 was closed for more than three hours while the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Department investigated and crews cleared the road after the crash.
