ERIE, Pa. — A former employee of Camp Fitch in Pennsylvania has been charged with child pornography, according to court documents.

Matthew Poese was indicted on July 8 in Pennsylvania for possession of material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor, according to court documents.

Youngstown YMCA CEO Thomas Gasce said Poese was suspended as soon as they learned abut the investigation. He has since been terminated.

Poese's last day with the camp was on June 19, according to Gasce.

Gasce said they were deeply disturbed and saddened when they learned of his alleged actions.

"At Camp Fitch, the safety and well-being of children in our care always has been and always will be a top priority," Gasce said.

Gasce said Poese underwent a background check when he was hired and it came back clean and has not had any disciplinary issues during his tenure with Camp Fitch.

According to Gasce, the charge does not allege any misconduct or inappropriate activity happened with any Camp Fitch camper.

Gasce said the camp is fully supporting the FBI during its investigation.
