CLEVELAND — Lakefront Lines Inc. announced it is permanently closing its operations around September 16 due to impacts the coronavirus pandemic has had on business, the company wrote in a letter to Ohio Department of Job and Family Services on July 15.

All four locations, including the main location in Cleveland, will close.

  • 13315 Brookpark Road in Brook Park
  • 3152 East 17th Avenue in Columbus
  • 3152 Hill Avenue in Toledo
  • 4991 Factory Drive in Fairfield

All employees, including bargaining unit employees, will be permanently laid off. More than 300 jobs will be cut as a result of the closures.

The company said loss of business was a direct result of the pandemic, specifically, the impacts that the Stay at Home orders and school closures had on travel and business operations.

The mass furloughs started on March 16 and were not expected to last six months or become permanent, but business has not improved, the company wrote.
