OSHP motor carrier enforcement inspector fatally struck while doing her job on I-75

MIAMI COUNTY, Ohio — A woman working as a motor carrier enforcement inspector (MCEI) for the Ohio State Highway Patrol was struck and killed by a vehicle while on duty working a traffic crash in Miami County, according to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred on Wednesday at approximately 6:47 a.m. on I-75 in the city of Troy.

Kimra J. Skelton was parked in a crossover when her vehicle was struck by a 2017 Ford F-250 traveling northbound.

The driver, a 44-year-old man from Kettering, traveled off the left side of the road and struck her patrol vehicle. He sustained minor injuries from the crash.

"There are no words that can express our grief over the loss of MCEI Kimra Skelton,” said Colonel Richard S. Fambro in a statement. “We are forever grateful for her service and sacrifice. Our prayers are with family, friends and coworkers."

Skelton, 49, who has been a member of the OSHP since 2005, is survived by her husband and two children.

The crash remains under investigation.
