COLUMBUS, Ohio — Authorities say a woman killed by a undercover vice officer in Ohio’s capital city feared she was being kidnapped when she climbed into the back seat of a police vehicle and was then shot six times by the officer.

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien says in a court filing seeking a bond denial for Columbus police officer Andrew Mitchell that Mitchell didn’t have his police badge when 23-year-old Donna Castleberry asked for identification during an arrest attempt for prostitution last year.

O’Brien says Castleberry cut Mitchell’s hand before being shot because she thought she was about to be kidnapped and raped.

Mitchell has been charged with murder in Castleberry’s death. He’s pleaded not guilty.

Mitchell’s attorney has argued it was an act of self-defense and a legitimate use of force.
