BRUNSWICK, Ohio — Ohio’s school buildings are closed for the rest of the school year, but that isn’t stopping schools from looking for ways to stay connected with their students. At Harmony Preschool in Brunswick, that meant holding a drive-by graduation.

On Monday, teachers stationed themselves around the preschool’s parking lot. Then, parents brought the students by. The children were able to pick up their graduation caps and certificates while celebrating with their teachers.

Owner Cathy Kahn says safety was top of mind, "we're trying to stay as far apart as we can but still show the love that we deserve and that the students deserve too.”

The school closed a month and a half early this year because of the pandemic, but Kahn says the teachers wanted to celebrate their students achievement.

“It actually was the teacher's idea,” said Kahn. “They really wanted to be able to say good-bye to their students before they sent them on for the summer.”
Now, the school is looking ahead to planning for the fall.
