AKRON, Ohio — Amazon is now accepting applications for more than 1,500 new, full-time positions ahead of the launch of its fulfillment center in Akron.

Interested candidates can apply online at: amazon.com/clevelandjobs

Employees at the 640,000 square-foot facility at the old Rolling Acres Mall site will fill a variety of roles, including receiving inventory, packing and shipping customer orders and supporting network logistics.

Pay for employees starts at $15 an hour minimum, and they receive comprehensive benefits, including health, vision and dental insurance from day one, according to a news release from Amazon. Employees are also offered a 401(k) with 50% company match, up to 20 weeks of paid parental leave and access to Amazon’s Career Choice program, which pre-pays 95% of tuition for courses in high-demand fields.

The company has created over 23,500 jobs in Ohio with eight fulfillment and sortation centers, six delivery stations, one Air hub, 12 Whole Foods Market locations, four Amazon Hub Locker+ locations and one wind farm, according to the company.

Amazon says it has invested $4 billion from April to June on COVID-19-related safety measures, including temperature checks, masks, enhanced cleaning, gloves, sanitation stations and more.

Candidates for the Akron Fulfillment Center must be 18 or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent to be considered. Jobs are available on a rolling basis and are filled quickly, the company said. Representatives recommend job seekers sign up for text alerts to receive updates by testing AKCNOW to 77088.
