CLEVELAND — As part of our Rebound Northeast Ohio series, News 5 is committed to connecting people who are out of work to job opportunities and resources.

Unemployment can feel overwhelming, so we want to help by making sure you know about a free, online program starting next month; it allows you to pay nothing but earn college credit while learning how to rebound into a new career.

It is called the Workforce Success Seminar Course. Cuyahoga Community College is offering the free, online course. The eight-week summer session begins June 8.

Tri-C says it’ll help:

  • With career planning, resume writing and job searching.
  • Improve study, time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Sharpen workforce skills.
  • Identify and boost employable skills.

And, you earn one credit from taking the online seminar.

"It helps them to build the confidence to either come to college, restart college, and finish college," said JaNice Marshall, Vice President of Access and Community Connections at Tri-C. "And again, helping them to understand the number and myriad of programming opportunities we have to offer."

Marshall said once you’re done with the program, Tri-C is there to help you with the next step.

"Counselors and other individuals will be ready to help them in completing their career plan, their academic plans, enrollment, financial aid -- whatever they need to get to that next step, we’re with them," she said.

Enrollment is open. If you don’t have a computer or internet, you can use the technology centers at Tri-C campuses, but they stress the buildings are only slowly reopening and access is limited. Find more info here.
