Browns fans and beer lovers were happy to see Joe Thomas at Great Lakes Brewing Co. on Saturday as the brewpub unveiled a new beer in his honor.

Thomas' beer, 73 Kolsch, went on tap as he met fans, took pictures and poured a glass himself. The limited-edition Kolsch-style ale is an obvious nod to the player who wore number 73 for the Browns.

Great Lakes also printed and filled 73 special-edition crowler cans, which are on sale in the gift shop, according to a tweet from the brewing company.

According to Great Lakes, this beer project began when Thomas and his next-door neighbor, Great Lakes Brewing Co. CEO Bill Boor, bonded over beer.

Here are a couple of quick stats about 73 Kolsch, according to Great Lakes:

  • ABV: 5.7% | IBU: 20
  • Flavor: Reliably crisp and smooth with consecutive snaps of earthy hop aromas and subtle rye bitterness

Great Lakes said the beer will be available for a limited time beginning in September at select Cleveland-area retailers in 12 oz. can six packs.
