Mid-American Conference announces six programs headed to bowl games

The Mid-American Conference announced six programs that are headed for bowl games in the 2016 season. 

The 2016 season marks the ninth time in MAC history to have four or five programs receive a bowl game invitation in a single season. In the previous five bowl seasons, the MAC has a record of 11-18. 

The 2016 bowl schedule is as follows: 

  • Toledo vs. Sun Belt conference's Appalachian State in the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl, December 17 at 5:30 p.m.
     
  • Central Michigan vs. American Athletic conference's Tulsa in the Miami Beach Bowl, December 19 at 2:30 p.m.
     
  • Eastern Michigan vs. C-USA's Old Dominion in the Popeyes Bahamas Bowl, December 23 at 1 p.m.
     
  • Ohio University vs. Sun Belt conference's Troy in the Dollar General Bowl, December 23 at 8 p.m.
     
  • Miami University vs. Southeastern conference's Mississippi State in the St. Petersburg Bowl, December 26 at 11 a.m.
     
  • Western Michigan vs. Big Ten's Wisconsin in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic, January 2 at 1 p.m.

All game times are eastern standard and are being broadcast on ESPN.
