Cicada Search in the Cleveland Metroparks
Sunday, May 29, 1 to 2:30 p.m., South Chagrin Reservation, Hawthorn Ridge Picnic Area,
Seventeen years ago, this area was full of cicadas emerging from the ground. The air may be full of buzzing insects today; learn about this fascinating natural phenomenon and see how many we can find. Free.

Cuyahoga Valley National Park

Lock Demonstrations
Saturday, May 28, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Canal Exploration Center.

Explore Ledges
Saturday, May 28 & Sunday, May 29, 1 to 3 p.m., Ledges Shelter.
Take a less-than-2-miles hike on the hilly, rocky Ledges Trail. For more information call 330 -657-2752.

Explore Brandywine Falls
Sunday, May 29, 1 to 2 p.m., Brandywine Falls Trailhead.
Take a short, leisurely ranger-led walk to discover one of the region's most scenic views. Flat boardwalk with optional stairs. For more information call 330-657-2752.

Worden's Ledges Hike
Saturday, May 28, 3 to 5 p.m., Hinckley Reservation, Worden Heritage Homestead parking lot, Worden Heritage Homestead is off Ledge Road between Kellog Road and State Road, Hinckley, OH 44233
Hike along a beautiful wooded trail that winds through sandstone ledges with Naturalist Kathy Schmidt. Learn about the history of the many carvings that Noble Stuart made in the sandstone during the 1940s. Free.

Viewing the Night Sky

Join members of the Crawford Park District’s  Lowe-Volk Astronomy Club as they share their knowledge and telescope skills with all who are interested in the celestial sights.  Bring your own telescope or allow the volunteers to assist you with those provided.  It is a spectacular universe.

I Spy In the Metroparks
Ongoing. Here is a challenge for kids! There are 8 required “I spys” throughout the
MetroParks. Take a picture next to each one and submit all pictures once you complete your task list. We will have a prize party in November! Please submit pictures as a group, not individually.

Learn about the amazing phenomenon of the 17-year cicadas. These insects spend most of their lives underground, but when they emerge: Look out! School's Out Cookout
