Fall Hiking Series: Burr Oak
Saturday, November 19, 10 a.m., Burr Oak State Park, Ranger Office
Cooler temperatures, change of color, the crisp sound and smell of leaves under your feet--it's hiking time! Come for our Fall Hiking Series and experience the season of Autumn in the park.
Each hike will explore a different section of trail at Burr Oak State Park. All hikes are 3 to 4 miles long and are scheduled on Saturdays at 10 a.m. Complete 3 out of 4 hikes and receive a special hiking memento.

West Creek Headwaters Hike

Where does West Creek originate, and what does it look like there? Take a hike around the headwaters neighborhood to explore the places that give our urban creeks their unique characteristics. Terrain Difficulty: tall grass, sidewalks, 3 miles. Phone: 440-887-1968.

Ashland County Parks
The Ashland County Park District (ACPD) manages 16 unique parks comprising over 2,000 acres of beautiful forests, fields, lakes, and streams. All of this green-space is publically owned and open to the public 365 days a year for hiking, fishing, bird watching, biking, dog walking and other outdoor pursuits. Some seasonal hunting opportunities also are offered in a few select parks.

Crawford County Parks
The CPD depends on a solid cadre of volunteers to keep things running smoothly. Sarah Messerschidt has taken on the responsibility of updating our volunteer list and contacting individuals when we need help. If you have not updated your volunteer form recently or you would like to volunteer for the first time, our volunteer form is available on our website. You could also stop by the Nature Center to complete the form or request that a form be emailed.

Enjoy a walk through the meadows and woods of the MetroPark.
Project Feederwatch
Saturday, November 20, 10 to 11 a.m., East Sandusky Bay MetroPark, Eagle Point, 3819 Cleveland Rd, Sandusky.
Project FeederWatch is a winter-long survey of birds. The data collected helps scientists track movements of winter bird populations. We will take a short walk back to The Coop and do our very own data collection to submit! Registration required! Limit 10.

Night Hike & Campfire

Gather around a campfire, warm up with some hot chocolate, journey into the darkness to experience the magical world of Nature at night, then return to the campfire for a sweet treat! Partially wheelchair/stroller accessible.
Hidden Homes Nest Quest

Enjoy an indoor presentation on animal architecture including nest samples, followed by an outdoor search for bird, insect and mammal nests revealed now that leaves have fallen. Partially wheelchair/stroller accessible.

Candy Land Has Gone Wild!

On a life-sized game board, discover the many flavors that nature gives us as you play along and travel through the seasons in our indoor wonderland. Draw a card, move from space to space and explore nature through the year. In addition, enjoy a craft, activity pages and scavenger hunts — fun for the whole family! Snacks and beverages are also available. Enjoy holiday shopping at The Nature Store. Snowshoe rentals available, weather permitting.

Natural Discoveries Hiking Series: Traditions and Turkeys

Natural Discoveries is a series of free nature themed programs designed for ages seven to adult. Participants in the program who complete certain hike requirements are eligible to receive awards. See the Natural Discoveries link on our website for award details. Learn about the turkey, the bird behind the traditions and festivities that many enjoy this time of year. During this hike, search for signs of turkey activity in the fields and forests where we hope to catch a glimpse of one or two. Ages 7 to adult. No registration required. Free.

Ledges Trail Throughout The Year
