The Indians will be sending five players to the All-Star game in Miami. But they're not the only ones from the organization hoping to make a splash in South Beach. Cleveland's top prospect Francisco Mejia is making his second straight appearance in the MLB Futures Game.
Francisco Mejia, the Akron RubberDucks catcher from the Dominican Republic, grew up idolizing players like Ivan Rodriguez. Now, he's well on his way to becoming the Indians next backstop. Mejia made national waves last season with a 50-game hitting streak and the 21-year-old currently leads all of Double A in batting average.
The Futures Game features the top prospects from MLB's 30 teams as part of the All-Star festivities. You can watch Mejia Sunday at 4 p.m. on MLB Network.
