A Beach Hazards Statement has been issued for lakeshore counties in Northeast Ohio Friday.

The statement is in effect through 11 a.m. Friday for Cuyahoga, Lake and Ashtabula counties, according to the National Weather Service.

The advisory is also in effect for Lorain County until 4 p.m.

Large waves could cause strong currents to develop, making it dangerous for swimmers.

Swimmers are advised not to enter the water. The currents can carry swimmers away from the shore through a sand bar and along structures extending out into the lake.
