CLEVELAND — A Beach Hazards Statement has been issued for lakeshore counties in Northeast Ohio on Thursday.
The statement is in effect through 8 p.m. this evening for Cuyahoga, Lake and Ashtabula counties.
The statement goes until 4 p.m. for Ottawa, Lorain and Erie counties.
Large waves could cause currents to develop on the lakeshore, making it dangerous for swimmers.
Swimmers are advised not to enter the water. The currents can carry swimmers away from the shore through a sand bar and along structures extending out into the lake.
