Waves and dangerous currents prompt NWS to issue beach warning

The National Weather Service has issued a Beach Hazards Statement on Monday after a combination of wind and large waves including rip currents resulted in threatening conditions for swimmers.

The warning is in effect from 9 a.m. through Monday evening.

Lake Erie beaches in Erie, Lorain, Cuyahoga, Lake and Ashtabula Counties are effected.

The beach hazards can make the waters a high risk for swimming because of the currents and the height of the waves in some areas.
