Slight risk of severe weather Wednesday afternoon, mainly south of lakeshore counties

CLEVELAND — There is once again a slight risk for severe thunderstorms late Wednesday afternoon and evening across parts of Northern Ohio.

WHAT: Severe thunderstorms with damaging winds, large hail and heavy, flooding rainfall.

WHEN: 5-9 p.m. Wednesday evening.

WHERE: South of the lakeshore counties ‑ mainly south of a line from Youngstown to Akron to Mansfield.

IMPACTS: Thunderstorms are possible late Wednesday afternoon and evening along and south of US 224 and US 30.

A couple of the storms could contain a brief damaging wind gust and some large hail.

Any heavy rain over already-saturated ground will cause FLOODING.

Portage and Mahoning Counties received 2 to 4 inches of rain from Tuesday’s storms. These areas will be highly susceptible to flooding Wednesday and again Thursday as more rounds of rain impact the region.
