Wind gusts of up to 60 mph prompt High Wind Warning for most of Northeast Ohio

CLEVELAND — A High Wind Warning has been issued for most of Northeast Ohio on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

The High Wind Warning is in effect until 8 p.m. Monday for the following counties:

  • Lorain
  • Medina
  • Summit
  • Portage
  • Trumbull

The High Wind Warning is in effect for the following counties until 11 p.m.:

  • Cuyahoga
  • Geauga
  • Ashtabula
  • Lake

West winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are expected in some areas.

The brown area in the map below shows west winds of up to 60 mph.

Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected.

Winds with the highest speed will occur during the afternoon hours. The highest winds will be right along Lake Erie's shoreline. Make sure your belongings are tied down and prepared for the wind.

Winds relax this evening and overnight. Temps don't rebound until next week though.
