CLEVELAND — Creative expressions of art and traditions both old and new from all corners of the globe meet at no other place than the Cleveland Museum of Art for the 2019-2020 Performing Arts Series. International composers create original compositions inspired by works of art from the museum’s collection.

The series, which includes internationally renowned artists, the popular Sunday organ recitals and the collaboration with the Cleveland Institute of Music offering music in the galleries, is a ticket to experience music from all corners of the world right here in Cleveland.

Some of the highlights include performances Ricardo Zohn-Muldoon, a Mexican-American composer who, along with La Coperacha Puppet Company, will stage a production based on Oaxacan artist Alejandro Santiago’s sculpture project, "2501 migrants." One of Iraq’s richest cultural offerings, the Iraqi maqam, meaning melodic mode, will be performed by Hamid Al-Saadi, a renowned artist known for his voice and attention to detail of Iraqi music and poetry.

Hailed as one of the most vital bearers of modern African music, Fatomata Diawara takes a bold yet respectful approach to honoring her roots during her performance on Feb. 26, 2020.

The first performance of the series kicks off on Oct. 6, 2019 through spring 2020.

Tickets for the individual performances are on sale now. Tickets and more details are available by calling the Cleveland Museum of Art or online at cma.org/performingarts.
