According to the entertainment outlet, the movie is inspired by the real-life friendship between Fred Rogers and award-winning journalist Tom Junod. The film shares the story of how a cynical reporter unwillingly takes on an assignment to write a profile piece on the beloved icon and - surprise, surprise - finds a new outlook on life.
