CLEVELAND — The man accused of fatally stabbing a 67-year-old woman and injuring three children pleaded not guilty in court on Monday morning.
Jalen Plummer, 18, pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder and felonious assault.
Plummer is accused of fatally stabbing Diane Madison and attacking and injuring two 10-year-old girls and a 12-year-old boy in a home on Chickasaw Avenue on Saturday morning.
Police say it appears the suspect walked into the childrens' bedroom while they were asleep and attacked them. The 10-year-old girls managed to escape, and they both ran to the home of a neighbor, who then called police. The 12-year-old boy hid inside the house and was later found when authorities arrived.
Madison was found dead on the scene, according to police.
A former attorney for Michael Madison confirmed to News 5 that the woman who was fatally stabbed was Michael Madison's mother. Michael Madison was convicted in 2016 for the murders of three women.
Authorities said Plummer was found in the shower by police and taken into custody. Following his capture, he was transported to a nearby hospital for cuts on his hands.
Plummer’s bond was set at $2 million.
