Indoor trick-or-treat events offer alternative to nasty Halloween weather

CLEVELAND — While the forecast of high wind and low temperatures for Halloween is less-than-ideal for trick-or-treating, there are a number of indoor alternatives around Northeast Ohio for candy-hungry ghouls and goblins to enjoy.

Here are few of them:

Mall-O-Ween at Belden Village Mall
Where: Belden Village Mall, 4230 Belden Village Mall Cir NW Canton, OH 44718
When: Wednesday, Oct. 30 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Details: Kids can meet fun characters including princesses, FeLeap, Pozzie, and Miss Ohio, and participate in fun activities like crafts, face painting, balloon bending and a zombie dance show. A trick or trail trail begins in the Center Court.

Annual Trick or Treat at the Aurora Farms Premium Outlets
Where: Aurora Premium Outlets, 549 S Chillicothe Rd, Aurora, OH 44202
When: Wednesday, Oct. 30 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Details: Spooky and safe trick-or-treating at participating stores at the partially-outdoor outlets. There will be candy, store discounts and more.

Candy Crawl at the Great Lakes Mall
Where: Great Lakes Mall, 7850 Mentor Ave ,Mentor, OH 44060
When: Wednesday, Oct. 30 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Details: The free mall-wide trick-or-treat night kicks off at Shelby’s Sugar Shop. It is restricted to kids 12 and younger, and no masks or toy weapons are allowed.

Track or Treat at the Oberlin College indoor track
Where: Oberlin College - Philips Gym, 200 Woodland St, Oberlin, OH 44074
When: Wednesday, Oct. 30 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Details: Children are encouraged to walk around the John W. Heisman indoor track and visit various stations for candy and entertainment.

Trick-or-treating at the Cuyahoga Falls City Hall

Where: Cuyahoga Falls Municipal Building, 2310 Second Street
When: Thursday, Oct. 31, 3 to 4 p.m.
Details: Different departments will be participating in the annual City Hall Trick-or-Treat. It’s all inside and all free.

Boo Bash at the Springfield-Lakemore Branch Library

Where: Springfield-Lakemore Branch Library, 1500 Canton Road Suite 360, Akron, OH, 44312
When: Thursday, Oct. 31 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Details: Games, crafts, entertainment and trick-or-treating at participating locations in the partly-outdoor Lakemore Plaza Shopping Center.

Perkins Paranormal Trick or Treat
Where: 550 Copley Road Akron Ohio 44320
When: Thursday, Oct. 31 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Details: Children and adults are encouraged to dress up and participate in activities at the home of Akron and Summit County’s founding family at the Perkins Stone Mansion. No masks, please. Collect candy in each room, complete a tombstone rubbing, hear paranormal stories and listen to spooky music in the library. Cost is $5 per family, up to five people.

Candy Crawl at the New Towne Mall
Where: New Towne Mall, 400 Mill Ave. SE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663
When: Thursday, Oct. 31 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Details: Collect treats during the mall-wide trick-or-treat event that will include teal pumpkin treats for those with allergies.

Halloween Bash at Play: CLE
Where: Play: CLE, 38525 Chester Rd., Avon, Ohio 44011
When: Friday, Nov. 1 from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Details: Play: CLE is offering $13 for one-hour admission on Nov. 1, with each additional hour $6.66. Kids can come in their costumes or bring a change of clothes, and there will be candy at each obstacle.

BBCI Safe and Fun Place for Halloween
Where: 15415 Kipling Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44110
When: Thursday, Oct. 31, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Details: Black on Black Crime, Inc., Survivors/Victims of Tragedy, the Aliana DeFreeze Foundation, the I.C.E.D. Foundation, Brandy's Giving Heart Foundation, Brickhouse Wellness and Starmakers are sponsoring a safe place for children to play games and trick or treat. All children are welcome.
