CLEVELAND, Ohio — On Tuesday, Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish's office announced that he has approached county council regarding an additional $10 million for its rental assistance program.

If approved, the funds would be used to help residents who have had trouble making rent payments during the COVID-19 pandemic. The funds would be administered by CHN Housing Partners, which already administers the existing Rent Relief Fund.

Should the proposal approved, Cuyahoga County families could receive up to a year in assistance, with an additional three months of help if it is determined that extra time is needed to "ensure housing stability."

"We want to keep residents in their homes. The county is committed to continuing to do everything we can to help our residents who have been financially impacted by the pandemic," said Budish. “Pending council approval, this $10 million in funding will provide an additional measure of security to residents struggling to pay their rent as they work to recover financially from the economic impacts of the pandemic.”

“We are grateful to County Executive Budish for his commitment to those struggling to stay in their homes in these difficult times,” said Kevin J. Nowak, executive director of CHN Housing Partners. “With the approval of county council, NEO Rent Help will remain the front door for those applying for rental assistance in Cuyahoga County.”
