CLEVELAND — Barley House in Downtown Cleveland will be losing their permit after violating Gov. Mike DeWine's health orders.

The bar was cited on Nov. 14 after OIU agents, Cleveland police, Cleveland fire crews, and the Cleveland Department of Health visited Barley House and all observed “egregious violations of health orders.”

There were more than 100 customers present, dancing and walking freely throughout the premises while drinking alcoholic beverages. They were also congregating throughout the bar and not maintaining any social distancing guidelines, according to OIU.

They were cited two previous times before Nov. 14. The bar was previously cited on Sept. 27 for improper conduct – disorderly activity and again on Oct. 3 for improper conduct — disorderly activity, after-hours consumption – Rule 80 and after-hours sale – Rule 80.

At a liquor hearing, the owner entered a denial plea.

The commission decided to revoke their permit, effective on March 24.

News 5 has reached out to Barley House's owners but has not heard back.
