The Eastlake community is mourning the loss of a life gone too soon following the death of a 17-year-old girl police say was hit and killed on Tuesday afternoon by a driver who was under the influence.

Friends of Maddisan Chase, 17, of Eastlake, shared their condolences with her family while trying to make sense of such an unexpected and tragic loss. One parent, who says her daughter was best friends with Chase, urged parents to tell their children how much they love them.
Even those who didn't know Chase shared their thoughts on the senseless tragedy.
Another friend recalled the memories she had with Chase, who was someone she considered her "sister for life."
