Shaker Heights Schools announces plan to return to in-person instruction

SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio — Shaker Heights Schools announced that it will begin a phased-in return to on-site learning beginning Thursday, Nov. 5.

The return will begin with kindergarten students returning to in-person instruction on Nov. 5.

First grade students will return on Nov. 9, second grade on Nov. 10, third grade on Nov. 6, and fourth grade on Nov. 10.

Shaker Heights Schools listed the following returns for the remainder of students:

Woodbury & Middle School (Grades 5-8):
A Week Students: Thursday, November 5
B Week Students: Friday, November 6
A Week Students: Week of November 9
B Week Students: Week of November 16

High School (Grades 9-12):
Students will start onsite the week of November 30 in an A/B hybrid model with students reporting onsite two full days every week.

For students continuing with online learning, the classroom lessons will be streamed and will be available using Google Meet, Zoom and other instructional technology tools.

Parents are able to change their K-8 student’s option to return to on-site instruction or continue online learning by contacting their building principal.

Before-school and after-school childcare remains unavailable at this time, the district said.

The district said it will continue to monitor the state's color-coded Public Health Advisory System and the school's specific COVID-19 information as it moves forward with decisions.
