AKRON, Ohio — A fundraiser held this past November raised more than a quarter-million dollars for Akron Children’s Hospital.
The 38th annual Holiday Tree Festival raised $320,000 for patient care programs at Akron Children’s Hospital. The total amount raised at the event was announced at a “thank you luncheon” Thursday for the volunteers who helped put it on.
Since its start in 1982, the Holiday Tree Festival has raised more than $6.3 million for Akron Children’s Hospital.
“The dedication of our volunteers and the overwhelming support of the community combined to make this event an outstanding success,” Mary Leuca, chair of the 2019 Holiday Tree Festival, said in a press release from the hospital. “Collectively, our volunteers gave more than 5,000 hours of their time to continue the Holiday Tree Festival tradition this past year, it really is a team effort.”
This year’s Holiday Tree Festival is already being planned and will take place Nov. 21 through Nov. 29, 2020, at the John S. Knight Center.
