Akron police investigating home invasion after couple robbed at gunpoint

AKRON, Ohio — A 26-year-old man and 21-year-old woman were robbed at gunpoint Thursday afternoon after a man armed with a gun walked inside their home and demanded money, according to Akron police.

The robbery happened around 3:10 p.m. in the 1500 block of White Avenue.

According to police, two children were also in the home when the robbery occurred.

After demanding money, the robber made the man walk outside. Once there, the robber took the man’s debit card and then fired shots at him when the resident tried to get away.

No injuries were reported.

The robber is described as a Black male about 25 to 30 years old. He is between 5 feet, 3 inches and 5 feet, six inches tall and weighs 160 to 200 pounds. He was dressed in a medical mask, hat, white t-shirt and what appeared to be blue pants.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact the Akron Police Department.

The incident remains under investigation.
