A woman has been charged with domestic violence and murder after allegedly stabbing a man and then crashing her car as she tried to drive him to the hospital.
The man died from his injuries.
Akron police responded around 7 a.m. to a crash at 781 Grant Street. Officers found a gray 2007 Pontiac G6 that hit the south side of a vacant building.
The driver, 27-year-old Jelicia M. Wilder, said she was driving northbound, attempting to make a righthand turn onto East South Street when she lost control and struck the building.
The front seat passenger, a 27-year-old man, had a stab wound on his neck. He was transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General where he was pronounced dead.
Wilder said she was involved in a domestic altercation with the man at their residence on East Emerling Avenue. During the altercation, she stabbed him. She tried to drive him to the hospital when she wrecked the car into a building.
She was charged with domestic violence and murder and booked into the Summit County Jail.
Police later identified the victim as 27-year-old Dierre R. Spaulding.
