CANTON, Ohio — The Canton Police Department announced on Thursday the arrest of a suspect who authorities say is responsible for a slew of robberies at multiple gas stations and convenience stores across the city.

The suspect, Christopher Tremain Johnson, 42, was arrested by Canton police officers and members of the FBI Safe Streets Task Force on five aggravated robbery warrants.

Johnson allegedly robbed a Circle K, two Family Dollar stores and two Speedway gas stations throughout the city, according to Canton police.

The robberies occurred over a two-day period earlier this month, authorities said.

Information regarding Johnson's next court appearance was not immediately available.
