The Canton Police Department released Thursday the body camera video of an officer-involved shooting that happened early Wednesday.

In the video, you can hear the Canton officer yell "get on the f****** ground" before firing nine shots at the suspect, who appeared to be running away.

According to the Canton Police Department, the shooting happened after officers observed suspicious activity in the area of 11th Street and Worley Avenue NW.

Police say that's when one man fled, pointing a gun at officers as he ran.

Jashaun Malik Nickol, 18, was shot in the leg by an officer but kept running. A short time later, he was caught in the 1200 block of Worley Avenue and taken to the hospital for treatment.

After the shooting, you can hear the officer ask, "He doesn't have it on him?"

According to officials, Nickol threw his gun over a fence but police later found it.

He is currently booked in Stark County Jail.

The officer who fired the shots has been placed on leave.
