Daniel Austin, 26, of Akron, was given a life sentence by Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Thomas Parker for repeatedly raping two girls under the age of 10.

Austin was found guilty and charged with eight counts of rape and 10 counts of gross sexual imposition, according to the prosecutor.

Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh said Austin will be eligible for parole after 35 years.

“The pain Daniel Austin inflicted on his victims continues to this day. His actions ripped apart his family,” said Walsh. “As Mr. Austin serves his life sentence behind bars, hopefully the victims will be able to recover from the lifetime of devastation he caused.”

Austin was labeled a Tier III sex offender. If released from prison, he will be required to register with the sheriff's department every 90 days for the rest of his life.

Another Akron man, Bruce Gordon, was also sentenced to life in prison for raping three girls who were 5, 7, and 8.
